There is a disconnection in the pacing between the beginning, where Tomi and Stone are building their relationship, and the end, the rescue mission. He’s also easy to sympathize with.

Welcome to Joyfully Jay! Tomi is a young vampire that is still under the protection of his sister, the Queen. I couldn’t get behind that, despite sensing an overall “this is good” foundation. I enjoyed reading this series – 2 books in it so far and I hope there are more.
Brian rated it really liked it Nov 06, Instead of dwelling solely on the wolf shifters and the pack structures, she adds the politics and relationships of a vampire coven to the wolf shifter universe she has been building to turn it into a combustive mixture of primal animal needs versus an ancient vampire culture so rigidly structured that all they have left to amuse themselves with are internal gamesmanship and alliances born of self interest.

Tomi is kind of an outsider in the vamp community, even though he is the heir to the throne behind his sister, the Queen. I enjoyed the way the tension built up right towards the end with a daring rescue and heroic fight in which justice was done and the baddies got theirs.
Why was it forbidden for vampires and wolves to interact? Tomi flourishes with the love that Stone has for him and both of them develop in ways that astound the other. The instant lust tells Stone that the vampire is his mate, something unheard of between two species separated by culture and law. He has been mistreated by his fellow vampires so he doubts his own worth until he finds his mate and destiny.

Tomi isn’t beaten jeart by life though. Alas it was not to be. Notify me of followup comments via e-mail. Then he smells something wonderful and traces the aroma to a young vampire in possession of the lost phone. I’m going to stop there, it’s safe to say this was obviously not for me.

Oct 21, Lilladii rated it liked it. We are supposed to believe that a Beta would keep photos of his Alpha in drag on his phone? Tomi the vampire is a little unsure of himself because he isn’t liked by other vampires in his coven and he hasn’t come into his powers.
There were several excellent scenes, scenes that kept my interest, allowed me to fall into ehart story, fueled by compelling characters Tomi, his sister, Stone and curiosity-creating interactions, but many scenes descended into what seemed to be deep bonds but came off as false or overdone, as if the writer was trying too hard to convince me how much the wolf family loved and supported one another.
Add a bit of teasing scent of a mate, loge the attraction is stronger than any lack of information about bonding that might stand in their way.
