Even in this collection each story is different from the other and ther Though I’ve thoroughly enjoyed every one of Jeffrey Archer’s books I’ve read so far, it never crossed my mind to pick up one of his short-story collections. Twelve Red Herrings is exactly what it says: It’s one of the few stories that didn’t feel rushed, though I feel one of the beats took too long in coming. I did, however, feel that there were a few stories where the plot promised a very thrilling end but it fell flat or rather didn’t quite meet my expectations.

I too liked all Archer books, including this one. This story keeps the reader gripped till we find that Hamid has once again managed to escape being on the death list. He was a Member of Parliament and deputy chairman of the Conservative Party, and became a life peer in I felt like I was left wanting more. Several of them leap out into the dimly lit tunnel.

Just perfect, but if you burn it, it drains all the herings. The central conceit for all of them is the ‘red herring’ and some of the stories are more obvious than others in their deception and cleverness. I really enjoyed this book as much as I enjoyed Jeffery Archer’s previous ones: Whatever he may be in personal life, one cannot deny that when it comes to storytelling Archer is surely the best. Dougie Mortimer’s Right Arm Quite boring, unfortunately. Alongside of roald dahl he is IMHo heerings master of the short story.

Archer even includes a finishing story with a choice of four different endings just to highlight how a storyteller can easily change the direction of his narration and the potential options available. So deceptively simply written. My rating is 4. Really inspired me to find out more of Jeffrey Archer’s collections.
